The World Men’s Handball Championship is a popular tournament within the whole sports scene that has been organized by the International Handball Federation since already 1938. The World Men’s Handball Championship in 2009 took place in Croatia and was the 21st tournament in the whole World Men’s Handball Championship history. Strictly speaking the tournaments were held in Croatian cities such as Split, Zadar, Osijek, Varaždin, Poreč, Zagreb and Pula.

The final tournament, however, was held in Zagreb, the capital and largest city of the Republic of Croatia. France won the World Men’s Handball Championship. Croatia placed second while Poland took third place after having beaten Denmark. Tickets for all tournaments were available from November 15, 2009 until November 20, 2009. Considering the ticket prices it can be said that for the finals ticket prices began at 700 kuna which is equivalent to approximately € 95.
